Investment Strategy from GN Member

Mary,

I too live/work in an area where the numbers don't work for me.

Not to steal LT's thunder, but I just returned from spending my Spring Break - LT-style - with him.

What does an LT-style Spring Break entail? We spent Monday through Wednesday visiting, walking through and around and discussing at least two dozen properties. We submitted offers on six of them.

And I conducted two phone interviews regarding my primary career in and around all the house hunting.

Thursday we let the offers percolate through the sellers' minds and those of their agents. We looked at more property. We also worked with some local financial people. He showed me the towns and neighborhoods in his area of operation. Mostly at street level but also at water level. He has access to most any type of property you'd want to invest in at all the key price points - bargain basement to penthouse.

Friday evening, as I was boarding the plane home, he called to say that one of our counter-counter offers was accepted!

He and the people he works with are wonderful, energetic, accommodating people. I felt more at home after 4 days there than I have in 2+ years in southeast New England.

You should go visit.

Keep detailed records. Video your walking around. Video your exploration of houses. This would make a great information package.
